Electrical Intermediate Engineer

Job summary:

The primary purpose of this post is to assist the Engineering Team in achieving the objectives of the company with respect to Electrical Engineering designs for both internal and external clients. In doing this, to ensure maximum commercial and technical effectiveness and efficiency is maintained

Skills required:


The post holder should have at least a Degree in Electrical Engineering together with a minimum of one year’s post-qualification experience, with sound organisational, communication, inter-personal and Customer Care skills

Broad experience in the design, installation and management of electrical building services; must have working knowledge of current legislation and practices in all elements associated with Electrical building services

To be fully conversant in the following:

o Power and Distribution Systems
o Lighting Design
o Fire alarm Design
o Security and CCTV Systems
o Health and safety legislation
o Design Calculations Software (Amtech, Dialux, etc.)
o Ability to use Revit/Autocad
? Ability to work to deadlines, under pressure and on own initiative

Highly Desirable (but not essential)

? Experience of Quality systems to EN ISO 9001
? Possess good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate well at all levels and be able to control certain financial aspects of contracts and/or projects
? Experience in the planning, organising and control of sub-contractors, be able to provide services to agreed standards, time scales and budgets
? Have experience in the high technology or industrial sector of electrical services design
? Evidence of continuing professional development and an ongoing commitment to undertake training and studies to meet the demands of both current and future legislation relating to the design of building services
? CIBSE / IET / Engineers Ireland Membership at any grade
? Driving Licence & own transport

Main Duties:

? Work with the lead engineer to understand the scope of work, schedule, budget, project instructions and responsibilities.
? Involved in application of engineering fundamentals to design.
? Work with lead engineer to determine intent and contents of each drawing.
? Complete drawing responsibility tasks within scope, budget and schedule: review drawings for completeness, constructability and coordination
? Start and maintain a discipline file of working drawings for the project.
? Select and recommend design procedures and prepare preliminary designs for engineers’ approval.
? Works independently on design projects to support Design Engineer and will often coordinate drafting efforts for projects.
? Provide Electrical Design services for the design of lighting and general power systems.
? Provide Electrical Design services to design, layout and specify MV and LV power distribution required for the construction of high tech manufacturing facilities. Power distribution will include, Normal Power Systems, Emergency Power Systems, and Continuous Power Systems. All as directed by lead engineer.
? Execute Lighting Calculations (Dialux, etc.), Power Calculations (Amtech, etc.)

? Be familiar with power quality studies, capacity studies, remediation, UPS (CPS) and emergency power strategy, short circuit and load coordination studies. All as directed by lead engineer.
? Familiar with ET101, local standards, and ideally ET105
? Familiar with use of Autodesk Revit/Autocad
? Use of electronic mail and Excel /Word software.
? Verify installation is as per design drawings, submittals, RFIs and specifications
? Review and provide feedback on sub-contractor submittals accordance with drawings and specifications
? Review and provide feedback to sub-contractor queries such as RFIs
? Other duties as required and as directed by the lead engineer
